Lymphatic staining agents

What are Lymphatic staining agents?

Lymphatic staining agents are injected subcutaneously to determine the location of lymphatic vessels draining from that area. This is often used in conjunction with lymphography to get a visualization of lymphatics in medical conditions involving the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system includes numerous structural components, including lymphatic capillaries, afferent lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, efferent lymphatic vessels, and various lymphoid organs. Lymphatic capillaries are tiny, thin-walled vessels that originate blindly within the extracellular space of various tissues.

Some medications cause swollen lymph nodes as a side effect. These include: Some antibiotics (cephalosporins, sulpha drugs, penicillins)
